NEW – June 2024: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to amend its regulations that govern the land disposal of low-level radioactive waste to require new and revised site-specific technical analyses and permit the development of site-specific criteria for low-level radioactive waste acceptance based on the results of these analyses. The NRC also proposes to authorize the near-surface disposal of certain Greater-Than-Class C waste streams and provide for Agreement State licensing of these waste streams.
